Optics from SOCCOM Floats Processed by MISC Lab

The MISC Lab group calibrate otpical measurements from SOCCOM bio/bgc-argo floats. The non-QC is loaded from FloatViz at: ftp://ftp.mbari.org/pub/SOCCOM/FloatVizData/

Processed data

Data is currently processed once every 48 hours and will be processed in real-time in the near future. The different levels of processing available on the server are explained bellow:

More details about the processing are available at ftp://misclab.umeoce.maine.edu/floats/SOCCOM/DerivedProducts.pdf

Units

profile: profile number
dt: date and time (yyyy/mm/dd hh:mm)
lat: latitude (decimal degree)
lon: longitude (decimal degree)

p: pressure (dbar)
t: in-situ temperature ITS-90 (deg C)
sp: pratical salinity PSS-78 (no units)
o2: oxygen concentration (umol/kg) verify units

fchl: chlorophyll a fluorescence (mg m^{-3})
beta: angular scatterance at 700 nm with a scattering angle of 124 (m^{-1} sr^{-1})
fdom: fluorescent colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) (mg m^{-3})
ed###: downwelling irradiance at ### nm (W m^{-2} nm^{-1}) verify units
par: photosynthetically available radiation (Einstein m^{-2} d^{-1})
c: attenuation (m^{-1})

bbp: particulate backscatter at 700 nm (m^{-1})
C_phyto: phytoplnakton carbon (mg m^{-3}) not available yet
POC: particulate organic carbon (mg m^{-3}) not available yet

Flags

The flags (flag_*) are based on FloatViz flagging convention, some manual flagging has been done in addition of the actual real-time flagging done by FloatViz.

# Meaning
0 Good data
4 Suspect data
8 Bad data

Calibration parameters

Calibration parameters are not yet available online. Feel free to ask for them by email.
Note that optics darks measured before deployment are used instead of the manufacturer dark.
