UIMM Underwater Inductive Modem Module (UIMM) -- Converts RS-232 telemetry from a variety of instruments (e.g., current meters, Doppler profilers, etc.) to inductive telemetry, for use with other Sea-Bird  inductive telemetry system instruments and components. Includes 350 m plastic housing (no internal batteries), 4-pin wet-pluggable bulkhead connector (MCBH), mounting clamp for jacketed wire rope, & complete documentation. Specify: mooring clamp wire size selection to match O.D. of wire jacket. Communicating with 1 or more UIMMs requires use of Sea-Bird Surface Inductive Modem (SIM) or Inductive Modem Module (IMM), which provides serial interface (RS-232 or RS-485) between user’s computer & up to 100 IM instruments coupled to single cable. Purchase SIM / IMM & optional Inductive Cable Coupler (ICC) separately.

UIMM provides a more flexible interface than SBE 44 Underwater Inductive Modem, and is an economical alternative to SBE 44 for RS-232 instruments that have an internal power supply or where you plan to power an RS-232 instrument with an external battery pack.

UIMM-1a Wire guide & mounting clamp for 1/4 in. diameter mooring wire Cable fits loosely through IM coupling core / wire guide, & is clamped only at mounting clamp. See document 67142A.

  • UIMM-1b (5/16 in. diameter): 5/16-24 UNF
  • UIMM-1c (3/8 in. diameter): 3/8-24 UNF

  • UIMM-1e (6 mm diameter): 1/4-20 UNF
  • UIMM-1f (8 mm diameter): 5/16-24 UNF
