The SBE 41 / 41CP CTD has carefully engineered fouling protection, with anti-foulant devices, a U-shaped flow path, and a pump, and produces salinity data accurate to within 0.005 [PSU] for more than 3 years. Sea-Bird supplies more than 90% of the annual Argo program requirement, as well as a growing market in non-Argo float applications.

Based on scientists' needs, Sea-Bird developed a profiling float for Argo and other programs, incorporating many improvements: more mission profiles and longer life, low cost, lightweight, easy to deploy, Iridium communication, self-ballasting, easy-to-use interface. Navis was field-tested by Sea-Bird for three years, and has been sold to the scientific community since 2011.

A Navis profiling float with integrated SBE 63 Optical Dissolved Oxygen sensor and bolt-on WET Labs ECO Triplet is available. The individually calibrated SBE 63 is integrated within the CTD flow path, providing a coordinated measurement. The ECO Triplet is three sensors in one, providing any combination of Fluorescence (chlorophyll, CDOM, phycoerythrin, phycocyanin, rhodamine, or uranine) and Scattering (blue, green, or red) measurements.

A Navis profiling float with integrated SBE 63 Optical Dissolved Oxygen sensor, WET Labs MCOMS, and optional bolt-on sensors is available. The individually calibrated SBE 63 is integrated within the CTD flow path, providing a coordinated measurement. The MCOMS is three sensors in one, providing chlorophyll a, backscattering, and CDOM, or chlorophyll a and two backscattering channels. Multiple bolt-on sensors (such as Satlantic Deep SUNA, Satlantic OCR 504, WET Labs C-Rover 2000) can be attached to the float hull and cabled to the end cap. Data from all sensors, including the optional bolt-on sensors, is integrated in the data stream by the SBE 41N CTD electronics.

Sea-Bird Scientific, a team comprised of Sea-Bird Electronics, WET Labs, and Satlantic, offers a full suite of sensor systems and platforms for profiling float-based biogeochemical (BGC) research. Bolt-on style BGC sensor systems for profiling floats were developed by WET Labs and Satlantic, in close coordination with key scientists. Headlined by the Bio-Optical Sensor Systems (BOSS), these systems offer various configurations of multispectral radiometry, scattering, beam attenuation, chlorophyll and CDOM measurements to complement the temperature and salinity data of the floats. Individual sensors for UV nitrate and optical oxygen are also available.
